About Us

We are a privately owned, family run company based in Brighton. We specialise in the manufacture of drill and reamer jig bushes under the trade name 'GRIP' and have done so for over 80 years. Quality and service is our number one priority and customer satisfaction is at the heart of everything we do.

As the UK's leading drill jig bush manufacturer, we are well respected in the industry. All our bushes, pins and accessories are made entirely in house which enables us to maintain exacting quality standards. We are proud to be approved suppliers to leading companies in the aerospace, defence and motorsport sectors here in the UK and all around the world.

Manufacturing, stores and sales are all under one roof at our 30,000sq ft factory, which enables us to provide an efficient and prompt service. We maintain an extensive stock of standard products, meaning that the majority of orders are despatched the same day - order by 2.30pm and we can guarantee next day delivery.

Company history

Talbot Yard road sign in Southwark

The company was founded by Richard W Griffiths in 1940, with our head office in Talbot Yard (hence the name), just off Borough High Street in Southwark, London.

For two years the manufacturing of the jig bushes took place in nearby Southwark Bridge Road, under the control of Mr George Bennett, until war time air raids forced the manufacturing to a safer location in Brighton.

This enabled uninterrupted production of jig bushes and tooling parts for the Ministry of Aircraft production. Due to increasing sales after the war, larger premises were required, so in 1946 the head office transferred to Roedale Road, Brighton. Talbot Yard, however, remained open as our sales office.

Our expansion continued in 1958 when we moved into Brighton's Hollingbury Industrial Estate and 10 years later all the company's operations were brought under one roof.

We continually invest in new plant and machinery including several Citizen sliding head cnc lathes, which bring further efficiencies and even higher levels of quality to our operations. Our successful business is run by the second and third generations of the family and we are proud to continue to build on the principles of our founder.
